COVID 19 Hawaii Unemployment Insurance
(HUI) Volunteer
In April 2020 the UHM Office of the President sent an
email to all UHM Faculty with an invitation to volunteer
at the Honolulu Convention Center to help address our
state's unemployment claims backlog.
I participated by volunteering weekly for two months
with HUI teams to call over ten thousand local
residents from the Hawaii Convention Center to
update their unemployment applications during
the pandemic crisis.
COVID 19 Dance, Yoga, and Wellness
Working Group
During the height of the pandemic over 50 Hawaii
Dance Studio Owners and Company Directors
banded together to have zoom meetings to address
health and safety measure for re-opening and create
a support system for local dance and wellness
businesses.
The COVID19 Dance, Yoga, and Wellness Working
Group met regularly from May 2020 - March 2021.
I attended all meetings and hosted zoom calls. I
also participated in the following events:
Honolulu City Council Woman Kim Pyne
Invited Panel Speaker
Mayors Office Meeting on Dance Business
and Wellness Invited Speaker
The group formed a Hawaii Dance and Wellness
organization (HIDWA) and created a manual for
safe re-opening best practices for local dance
businesses.
